Next up we have the two masterminds behind our trip, and our two resident Italian experts who will be providing us with all the important information, which artist painted what and which gelato flavours to go for.
Ivana

Introduce yourself: Ciao, I am Ivana. I am currently one of the grade 3/4 teachers and the Bilingual Teaching and Learning Leader.
Have you ever been overseas before? If so, where? I have travelled a lot; when I was a child, as an adult with friends, alone, then with my partner and with my own children. I have travelled to explore, to learn and for love. I have travelled to some areas in Asia, the US and Europe.
What are your plans for the long plane ride? I always use the time to catch up on movies. I like to try and sleep too!
Three things you are most looking forward to about our trip:
- Finally getting to Italy with this group, most of which, I taught in Foundation and Grade 1/2
- Seeing our student’s faces as they come face to face with the language and culture
- Being in Italy
One thing you are a bit nervous about? I am not nervous about anything. We are prepared for whatever happens and anything that we have not thought of, between us we will handle.
How many slices of pizza/tubs of gelato will you eat on the trip? My love is history not maths so I will not be counting!
Any last comments? I might leave the last comment for when we come back.
Nancy

Introduce yourself: Ciao, sono Nancy. I have been at BSPS for five years and I am currently the Italian bilingual teacher in Foundation. During my free time, I love spending time with my family and friends.
Have you ever been overseas before? If so, where? I have been to Italy on numerous occasions and lived there for five years during my twenties (many moons ago!) I have also been to Switzerland, England, France, Greece and Fiji in my travels.
What are your plans for the long plane ride? Read, watch movies, eat and sleep!
Three things you are most looking forward to about the trip?
- Sharing this experience with all the students and my colleagues.
- Bringing their learning to life, beyond the classroom!
- Sharing my knowledge about Italy, and the Italian language and culture with the students.
One thing you are most nervous about? I am feeling super excited rather than nervous!
How many slices of pizza/ tubs of gelato will you eat on the trip? Endless! Too many too count!
Any last comments? I can’t wait to imparare insieme, creare insieme, vivere insieme in Italia!
